Derek Edwards Our Story
Who was Derek

He gave the coat off his back — and the lesson stuck.

Derek had a way of seeing people that most of us don’t. A neighbor without a coat wasn’t a problem to be solved — they were someone to walk next to. He gave what he had, and asked his friends and family to do the same.

When Derek was gone, the people who loved him refused to let that practice die with him. They kept showing up. They kept giving. And what one person started, a whole community continues.

“We are not a building. We are a community of people who refuse to let anyone go without.”

What we believe

Three things guide everything we do.

01

Dignity first.

Every neighbor we serve is treated as a person, not a case. Warm food, clean clothes, a real conversation — that’s the floor, not the ceiling.

02

Show up where they are.

We meet people on the street, at the shelter, leaving the hospital, on the first day of school. The work goes where it’s needed — not the other way around.

03

Every dollar, every coat.

100% community funded. What you give goes back into the work — no overhead siphon, no glossy brochures, no executive bloat.
